Under the Sun
Under the Sun was formed originally in November of 1995. Good friends Jason Williams and Mike Peck brought together Matt Williams and Alan Hill who in turn brought in Kevin McKegney. The band was formed strictly for fun and kicks to play an open mic night at a local university. To their surprise and enjoyment they were received warmly and this encouraged them to continue playing music and learning new material. The band played a number of dates at TUNS (Dal-tech) over the following year.
Summer of 1996 brought the first change to the line-up. Mike Peck took a job in Edmonton, AB and was replaced by Chris Perrin. The band played on. Another line-up change was in the works. Kevin McKegney (aka "Pipes McKay") left the band in the fall of 1997 to pursue a job in Windsor, ON. He was replaced by Terry Lemieux and the band played until Spring 1999. A much needed break was taken.
The band returned with original singer Kevin in the summer of 2000. The band was back and decided to make an effort to get wider exposure in some of the mainstream clubs. A lot of effort was taken in revamping the set list and learning new tunes. Presently you can see the band in a number of venues in and around the Halifax area including The Pogue Fado, Big Leagues, and The Bay Landing.
Great pride is taken in producing a show that is both fun and filled with good music. The set-list is quite diverse and is always building—so you'll never know what you might hear. |
